She was found guilty of inflicting grievous bodily harm to Cathy Ferreira on October 14 by a jury.During the trial it was revealed that on the morning of the incident December 9, 2009 Christopher returned to the home she shared with her boyfriend and father of her two children from a trip to Antigua. In her bedroom, she found Ferreira in a state of undress on her bed and threw a liquid on her that entered her eyes and spilled onto her private parts. The injuries to her eyes left her with problems with her vision.Justice Stephenson described the matter as an unfortunate one. Ferreira, according to the social inquiry report, said she has lost her vision in the injured eye; however Justice Stephenson informed the court that one does not know the extent of vision loss medically. What is known is that Ferreira suffers from dry eyes and has a growth on the cornea of the affected eye.She added that Christopher did not go in search of Ferreira to inflict harm on her and has to therefore take into consideration all the circumstances. The social inquiry report also shed light into Christopher’s history.According to the report, Christopher came from a very impoverished background. Her mother left her with her grandmother moving to Saint Marten in search of means to help her family but ended up dying. She then had to leave school while very young because her grandmother became of age. She also entered a relationship with the father of her three children very young. The life she lived with her now deceased boyfriend, Alwin “DJ Bullet” Robin was “vastly improved”. Now she is a single mother. The judge also stated that Christopher has no previous convictions, and not trivializing the matter, she has to be punished for the seriousness of the incident. She ordered Christopher to pay the $3000 fine within six months in default of which she will spend six months in jail.Compensation for Ferreira will be assessed at a later date she said as a means test needs to be conducted. She was represented by attorney at law David Bruney.Robin, along with Dermouth Alix Riviere was found on in a house at Cedar Valley, Antigua with bullet wounds to the head on October 5, 2012.Dominica Vibes News Share Sharing is caring!center_img Share 165 Views   11 comments Sharelast_img read more
